We are currently seeking a Graduate Accountant / Assistant Accountant to join the finance team located in Burwood, Victoria. This is a full-time position and would suit an experienced Assistant Accountant wanting to be supported in the next step in their career.

About the opportunity:

The successful applicant will work in a fast paced and busy environment across our many brands and dealerships, gaining experience in working for an expansive, publicly listed company. You will undertake the below:

• Perform deal processing functions and cost accounting activities

• Allocate funds and manage receivables accurately and efficiently

• Reconcile manufacturer factory statements in line with company procedures

• Prepare and post general journal entries

• Conduct extensive balance sheet reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy

• Assist with the preparation and requirements for external audits

• Complete manufacturer-specific financial reporting within required timeframes

• Provide day-to-day support to the Accountant

• Contribute to finance-related projects as directed by the Financial Controller

• Maintain effective communication with Group Managers and employees across various departments within the business

About you:

Success in this role requires outstanding problem solving ability, highly developed communication skills, and the confidence to make decisions and drive outcomes in a fast-paced environment. You will demonstrate:

• An experienced Assistant Accountant or Graduate Accountant, ideally with a background in the automotive industry or a fast-paced retail environment

• Currently studying towards a degree in Accounting or Finance or recent graduate

• Automotive dealership experience is highly desirable

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced level)

• Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy

• Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
